The island of Boracay, in The Philippines, is heavily dependent on tourism, so when Covid-19 continued to blockade the island from tourism, people needed to look for another means to survive. Local businesses began regular community 'feedings' for anyone who needed a meal, which then evolved into 'community pantries', where community members would set up a donation location and prepare food packs from the goods donated and redistribute them to people to help them get through a few days at a time.
Some friends of mine observed this happening in their own community and began fundraising to buy rice, sardines, and milk powder in bulk to repack and distribute to some of these pantries, which I then joined to help document as proof for their donors and participate in the fundraising efforts.
